Job Overview

HSBC is seeking a highly skilled Technology Risk Management Lead to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing large teams responsible for protecting the organization through appropriate Technology risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage Technology Risk Teams
    • Ensure technology controls are aligned with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and the company's risk management strategy.
    • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of technology controls, identifying areas for improvement and report to executive management.
    • Coordinate and manage complex reviews/change programs from sources such as 1LOD testing, 2LOD review internal, external technology audits, and programs of work as a result of regulatory changes and/or reviews.
    • Establish and monitor key control indicators (KCIs) to track the effectiveness of risk mitigation efforts.
  • Enhance and Remediate Controls
    • Undertake initiatives to enhance or remediate controls in a sustainable manner to provide enduring outcomes for the organization.
  • Strategic Partnership
    • Be seen as a trusted partner to executive management to allow integrate risk considerations into strategic technology planning and decision-making processes.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key senior stakeholders (such as GBGF's, Second/Third Line of Defense, and External Audit) to promote a unified approach to technology risk management across the organization.
  • Risk Data Analysis
    • Use Risk related data to help influence annual operating plan and subsequent prioritization.
  • Emerging Technologies
    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, cybersecurity threats, and regulatory changes to anticipate and address potential risks.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree (or demonstrable experience) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CRISC, CISM, CISA) preferred.
  • Leadership and Management
    • Track record of delivering sustainable outcomes in an enterprise scale organization.
    • Evidence of influencing at c-suite level and managing senior stakeholders with conflicting opinions.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Extensive experience in technology risk management, with a track record of successfully implementing and enhancing control frameworks.
    • Deep understanding of control operation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills
    • Proven ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership and Development
    • Strong leadership skills with a focus on talent development and mentoring.
  • Technical Skills
    • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and managing technology audits, both internal and external preferred.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate and assess complex technology landscapes preferred.
  • Software and Tools
    • Advanced knowledge of enterprise risk management software and tools in a large financial services organization.
  • Project Management
    • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully leading large-scale initiatives preferred.
  • Continuous Learning
    • A commitment to continuous learning and staying at the forefront of technology risk management trends and developments.
  • Technology Infrastructure
    • Deep understanding of Technology infrastructure, including Public Cloud and legacy Technologies as used in a Global financial organization.

This role is based in Sheffield and may include some travel.
