Research Opportunity in Analytical Chemistry

Admissiontimes is seeking a highly motivated and talented researcher to join our team in a funded MSc by Research in Analytical Chemistry. This exciting opportunity is focused on understanding the environmental impact of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in wastewater.

Research Objectives:

  • To develop and optimize a method for detecting and quantifying pharmaceutical compounds.
  • To measure the concentrations of these selected pharmaceutical compounds in untreated wastewater.
  • To examine the variations in the concentrations of these pharmaceuticals over the academic year and identify any correlations with assessment periods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a research project to investigate the occurrence, fate, and impacts of PPCPs in wastewater.
  • Develop and optimize a method for detecting and quantifying pharmaceutical compounds.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends and correlations.

Requirements:

  • At least an upper second in a relevant subject.
  • Strong research skills and experience in analytical chemistry.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
