About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our small Mortuary team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. As an Anatomical Pathology Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining and developing skills to ensure a safe, professional, and efficient Mortuary service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the monitoring of resources (equipment, consumables, and premises) to achieve optimum quality and efficiency.
  • Work closely with the Mortuary Team Leader in day-to-day operations and contribute to the training of junior staff.
  • Communicate and liaise with clinical and non-clinical Trust staff, HMCo's, Police, SOCOs, APTs, Funeral Directors, and Consultant Histopathologists to ensure delivery of a professional and efficient Mortuary service.
  • Prepare and present deceased for viewings and identification, ensuring the highest professional standards are maintained.
  • Ensure deceased are identified and released according to local protocols and that computer inputting is checked for accuracy.
  • Process valuables and other property according to agreed protocol.
Requirements
  • Driving license
  • Flexibility (on-call)
  • Experience with NHS computer systems
  • Previous NHS experience (desirable)
  • Ability to respond to on-call within 30 minutes
