Job Summary:

Certara is seeking a highly skilled IT Procurement and Software Asset Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Information Technology organization, you will be responsible for executing IT procurement operations, managing contracts, and ensuring accurate asset utilization tracking.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Procurement Operations:
    • Manage contracts and relationships with vendors to maximize value creation and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings.
    • Utilize forecasting and data to drive on-time delivery of IT assets and maintain business continuity.
    • Plan, procure, and schedule the acquisition of IT hardware, software, and related items through documented processes.
    • Maintain regular contact with vendors and suppliers to ensure value and operational support are met.
    • Collect information for budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contract summaries, and cost comparisons.
    • Analyze invoices to ensure accuracy of goods delivered.
  • Software Asset Management:
    • Identify savings opportunities for renewals, software licensing, and services.
    • Develop, implement, and refine software asset management policies, processes, and procedures.
    • Maintain software standards, validate product lists, and maintenance contracts with the asset management database.
    • Reporting of the software installations and used licenses (gather and consolidate data, create software installation reports).
    • Gather requirements and develop reports for internal customers.
    • Manage asset retrieval upon employee exits, ensure assets are retrieved on a timely basis.
  • Operational Standards and Policies:
    • Work with IT Management to establish standards and policies for procuring and tracking assets.
    • Recommend process improvements for problem prevention.
    • Identify and develop written support documentation.
    • Meet with business stakeholders to improve operational policies and ensure the continued upkeep of role-based access methodologies.
    • Service delivery, transition, and design of the accepted processes for the creation of new services.
    • Establish KPIs reporting on service delivery and utilization.
  • IT Projects and Consistency of Operations:
    • Drive successful implementation of technologies and services.
    • Provide constructive feedback on implementations with the goal of continuous improvement.
    • Execute projects using various technology solutions in an Agile framework.
    • Implementation/Execution: You are good at organizing and managing multiple priorities and/or projects by using appropriate methodologies and tools.
    • Innovate: You introduce new ideas and processes which improve performance and productivity.
    • Take an active role in achieving operational effectiveness.
    Requirements:
    • Education Required: Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related major or significant industry experience in a similar role for a $500M ARR organization.
    • Knowledge of complex vendor software contracts, licensing terminology, and software licensing rights, especially for major software vendors (IBM, Oracle, Microsoft).
    • Experience in conducting software vendor audits.
    • 6+ years of related experience in an IT support organization.
    • 6+ years of related experience working with software requests, licensing, and licensing databases is preferred.
    • 6+ IT Asset Management and Discovery Tools experience.
    • Proven experience working as a procurement specialist.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate ideas and results.
    • Team player with strong analytical skills and the ability to understand and resolve complex problems.
    • Conceptual knowledge of Information Technology.
    • The ability to plan, delegate and evaluate progress toward goals is necessary for managing these projects.
    • Ability to think, plan and work independently under general direction.
    • Strong knowledge of IT Service Management processes, as well as experience with Discovery tool.
    • Able to travel to meet vendors and suppliers as necessary.
    • Capacity to consider governance and regulatory constraints.
    • Proven researching ability.
    • Advanced Excel skills to facilitate "Charge-back" & "Show-back" reports as required.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills.
