This rewarding role as Nutritional Support Coordinator (Band 3) has opened up at the Royal Liverpool Hospital site to assist the dietetic team in delivering nutritional services to patients. We seek individuals who possess enthusiasm, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach. Responsibilities will encompass collaborating with patients, nursing staff, and catering teams to help patients select and receive suitable meals and nutritional supplements, assessing patients for malnutrition risks, and conducting audits as part of Clinical Governance.

There may also be opportunities to join the staff bank for future roles within the dietetics team.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve monitoring patients at the ward level, aiding the dietetic team in patient discharges, coordinating with the home enteral feeding service, and providing some telephone assessments.

You will be part of a supportive dietetic department comprising thirty dietitians. Our services cater to older adults, stroke patients, surgical and medical patients, as well as those requiring renal and gastroenterological care, alongside emergency and frailty services.

Basic IT skills, internet proficiency, and effective communication are essential, along with experience in working with diverse populations.

  • Collaborate under the guidance of qualified Dietitians to support the dietetic service, which includes gathering patient information and providing administrative assistance.
  • Key clinical duties include:
  • Assisting in the monitoring of patients' nutritional care by collecting relevant data such as weights, heights, BMIs, and dietary intake.
  • Daily communication with Dietitians to report any discrepancies in care plans.
  • Ensuring patients receive their prescribed nutritional supplements and meals, while encouraging their consumption.
  • Verifying that Food Record Charts are accurately maintained and notifying nursing staff of any issues.
  • Estimating patient intakes based on Food Record Charts.
  • Coordinating with ward staff to implement personalized nutritional care plans.
  • Working with catering services to ensure appropriate food options for patients.
  • Assisting in meal ordering for patients on special diets, considering their preferences.
  • Supporting the monitoring of established enteral feeding protocols.
  • If applicable, aiding in nutritional screenings to ensure timely referrals.
  • Maintaining records as directed by the supervising Dietitian.
  • Collecting data on patient interactions as instructed.

Qualifications

  • GCSE or equivalent in English
  • Minimum of 1 A-level or NVQ level III equivalent
