Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Emotional Support Assistant to join our team at a primary educational institution. The ideal candidate will engage with students facing emotional difficulties, equipping them with essential strategies to navigate their feelings and enhance their resilience.
Primary Duties:
- Design and implement tailored support sessions for individuals and small groups that emphasize emotional understanding.
- Incorporate diverse and interactive activities, including games, role-playing, and creative arts, to foster emotional growth among children.
- Establish and uphold a secure and nurturing atmosphere for learning.
- Address various emotional challenges, such as emotion recognition, self-worth, social interaction, friendship dynamics, anger control, and coping mechanisms for loss.
- Work collaboratively with educators, leadership, and special educational needs coordinators to identify and prioritize students in need of emotional support.
Required Qualifications and Attributes:
- Experience in working with children within an educational framework.
- Comprehensive knowledge of emotional literacy and its significance in child development.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to foster a supportive and engaging educational environment.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a sincere commitment to assisting children.
