The individual in this position operates within the Project Integrity division of OCCO, tasked with evaluating integrity risks associated with various projects and ensuring that exemplary integrity standards are uniformly upheld throughout the Bank's initiatives.

Overview
This role is situated within a specialized support function integral to the investment process. The primary duty of the Principal is to furnish expert guidance to the Bank concerning transaction-related integrity and reputational challenges. This includes collaboration with the Operations Committee, Small Business Investment Committee, and close partnership with Banking and Credit teams. The Principal is responsible for analyzing, verifying, interpreting, and evaluating integrity concerns and proposed mitigation strategies, ultimately recommending a suitable course of action.

Team Structure and Scope
The Project Integrity team comprises 18 professionals, including two Senior Officers, ten Principals, six Associate Directors, and one Director. The team evaluates approximately 600 projects annually and conducts ongoing training throughout the Bank. The primary contacts for this role are banking and credit teams, alongside other support units such as Impact and OGC, and external consultants. The Principal engages in any integrity-related matters across the Bank's operations, with a primary focus on transactions in the pre-signing phase. On average, each Principal manages 25 transactions concurrently each month, maintaining oversight of around 50 active projects at any given time.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct thorough analysis, verification, interpretation, and assessment of projects to identify integrity and reputational risks. Provide well-founded evaluations of integrity-related issues and offer actionable advice to mitigate identified risks, including the development of corporate governance action plans. Design and deliver training and guidance to enhance awareness and adherence to the Bank's integrity standards and requirements. Represent the Bank at international forums and deliver presentations at both internal and external compliance events. Stay informed about international standards in anti-money laundering, sanctions, and corporate governance, applying this knowledge to address risks identified during assessments. Regularly monitor compliance with the Bank's internal procedures. Engage in various ad hoc projects and themes aligned with OCCO's overarching objectives, which may include advising on Code of Conduct issues, enhancing policies, and assisting in audits. Exhibit readiness to travel and represent the EBRD with the necessary professionalism in diverse situations. Provide robust justifications for assessments and prepare impactful briefings for departmental leadership ahead of executive meetings.

Required Qualifications and Skills

A degree in law, finance, or a related field. High standards of integrity and discretion. Independent, resilient, and possess strong negotiation and diplomatic skills. Ability to build rapport and gain respect. Capacity to perform under pressure and meet challenging deadlines with a proactive problem-solving approach. Effective team player who can also work autonomously, demonstrating confidence in interactions with senior Banking, Credit, and Legal Officers. Strong presentation skills, capable of communicating complex matters clearly and conducting training for all levels of Bank officials. Proficient in drafting policies and procedures. Excellent command of English, with the ability to articulate complex issues succinctly in both written and verbal communication. Proficiency in an additional language relevant to the Bank's operations is advantageous. Strong analytical abilities and a comprehensive understanding of evaluating integrity and reputational risks, with a capacity to engage constructively in discussions regarding potential solutions. Professional experience in legal, banking, compliance, or auditing, with a sound understanding of the subject matter across various departments, particularly Credit. Familiarity with international compliance standards, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, and integrity issues pertinent to the EBRD's operational regions. A commitment to the Bank's mission and an appreciation for its multicultural environment.
