Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled In-Service Surveyor to join our team. As an In-Service Surveyor, you will be responsible for assessing the design, manufacture, and in-service aspects of engineering assets, ensuring they meet agreed codes, standards, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform assessments and provide advice on service delivery within agreed parameters, including budget constraints and contractual requirements.
  • Produce deliverables within agreed parameters in a defined format.
  • Discuss and present deliverables with external clients, assessing alternative solutions where necessary.
  • Undertake routine administration as required, adhering to current processes and procedures.
  • Assess and recommend the time and value of work to be undertaken for external clients within an agreed fee/cost structure, issuing quotations up to an agreed limit and LRQA's standard terms and conditions.
  • Pursue Continuing Professional Development, maintaining a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to other employees, disseminating information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
  • Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal and external client feedback.
  • Assess risks and work in a safe manner at all times, implementing health and safety rules, instructions, and systems, and refusing to undertake work that compromises safety or health.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and safety observations in a timely manner, raising health and safety concerns with the line manager.

Requirements

  • Possess a relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Be a qualified member of a recognized professional body, such as [insert relevant bodies].
  • Possess sufficient relevant working experience to demonstrate good awareness of specialist requirements, knowledge, and application.
  • Have relevant power station site experience and experience of writing written schemes of work.
  • Be able to work within the authorizations framework, but also work unsupervised and make decisions on equipment condition and future use.
  • Have thorough knowledge of material, welding, and pressure vessel construction codes, particularly PD and ASME Section VIII.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of EC Directives PED //EU.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of PSSR, LOLER, PUWER.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of commissioning and maintenance requirements for commercial refrigeration systems as deployed in the retail food sector.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of refrigeration safety standards BS EN and Institute of Refrigeration codes of practice.
  • Have understanding of refrigerant properties and their safety groups.
  • Have knowledge of F gas regulations and requirements for refrigerant handling qualifications.
  • Have good working knowledge of IT, including Work, Access, and Excel.
  • Be able to work unsupervised and make decisions on equipment condition and future use.
  • Be able to produce clear and concise computer-generated inspection and NDT reports.
  • Be able to work at height and in confined spaces.
  • Be able to travel to and stay in locations throughout the UK.
  • Have strong relationship-building skills and the ability to influence customers.
