Job Summary:

Transport Made Simple is seeking a highly skilled and experienced PSV Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in the North region. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all engineering activities related to our fleet of buses, ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fleet Management:
    • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the PSV fleet, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards.
    • Ensure that all engineering activities related to the fleet are carried out in a cost-effective and timely manner.
    • Monitor fleet performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance management.
    • Develop and implement engineering plans, policies, and procedures to ensure the effective operation and maintenance of the PSV fleet.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Collaborate with the Engineering Director to define engineering strategies and long-term plans that align with the company's objectives.
    • Develop and maintain documentation for all engineering processes and procedures, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all engineering-related matters, both internally and externally.
    • Provide regular updates to the Engineering Director and senior management on the status of engineering projects, fleet performance, and other key metrics.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in an engineering role within the transportation or automotive industry, preferable in HGV / PCV.
  • Experience in fleet management, project management, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop engineering teams.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing large-scale engineering projects from start to finish.
  • In-depth understanding of safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing engineering challenges.
  • Proficient in the use of engineering software and tools, with experience in data analysis and performance monitoring.
Work Environment:

This role may require occasional travel to various sites and may involve working outside normal business hours to meet project deadlines or address urgent issues.
