Job Title: Insurance Actuarial Investment Consultant

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Actuarial Investment Consultant to join our team at Mercer (UK) Limited. As a key member of our Insurance Solutions team, you will play a leading role in growing our business with insurance clients, focusing on investment implementation and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of insurance client needs and requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with other Marsh & McLennan operating companies to offer solutions to insurance clients.
  • Provide strategic investment advice to a portfolio of insurance clients, including asset allocation, portfolio structuring, and investment risk optimization.
  • Operate as a senior team member, ensuring excellent client service and maintaining the confidence of Delegated Solutions and group-wide distribution teams.
  • Design and deliver high-quality investment solutions, supporting proposals, presentations, RFPs, and RFIs.
  • Lead project teams or act as a senior resource for large projects, delegating work to analysts, providing guidance, and peer reviewing.
  • Act as a credible representative of Mercer with clients' senior personnel and decision makers.
  • Maintain and check technical accuracy and reasonableness of own work and others.

Requirements:

  • Actuarial qualification, ideally fully qualified, although part-qualified actuaries may also be considered.
  • Background in an investment or market risk role, predominantly focused on insurers, gained through working in-house at an insurer, asset manager, or consultancy.
  • Strong technical understanding of insurance investments and a firm grasp of underlying economic, investment, and regulatory issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurers' assets and liabilities, with the ability to construct optimal and practically implementable asset strategies.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative experience of modeling, risk analysis, stress, and scenario analysis on insurance products/portfolios.
  • Well-informed on insurance industry themes and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex issues.
  • Contribute to Mercer's publications for insurers and participate in Mercer-hosted insurance client events and related marketing activities.
  • High degree of commercial awareness and confidence to effectively orchestrate outcomes through other teams and specialist groups.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, and excellent client relationship management skills.
  • Experience of interacting with senior stakeholders at insurers, such as Investment Committees and Boards.
  • Administratively proficient and organized, with the ability to participate positively in team discussions.
