Position Overview

Are you a dedicated nursing professional with aspirations of leadership? Do you possess a wealth of experience as a Senior Nurse and excel in communication and team management?

We are seeking a qualified Lead Nurse to oversee our Surgical Admissions Unit team. This unit features an 11 trolley assessment area alongside a 16-bed ward, collaborating closely with various specialties to ensure effective assessment and ongoing care for emergency surgical patients.

As the Lead Nurse, you will work in partnership with a committed nursing team, providing robust leadership, effective team management, and fostering staff development.

Your role will encompass the delivery of clinical services on the ward, while also supporting quality governance, enhancing patient experience, and overseeing nursing workforce education. You should be capable of offering compassionate, skilled, and expert leadership to the ward, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and drive continuous improvements.

Within our surgical division, our Senior Nurses form a united team that supports one another. We recognize the challenges we face and collaborate to deliver exceptional care to our patients while providing strong guidance to our staff.

Main Responsibilities

Your duties will be diverse and include:

  • Overseeing the 24-hour care delivery and management of the Surgical Admissions Unit, including staff and student supervision.
  • Maintaining a visible presence and providing focused clinical leadership to the team.
  • Being professionally accountable for assessing skill mix and team structures, implementing changes to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Promoting a personalized, patient-centered approach to care in collaboration with families and healthcare professionals.
  • Working with patient forums to address and resolve concerns and complaints.
  • Ensuring the rights, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of all patients.
  • Conducting regular ward meetings to facilitate open communication among staff.
  • Implementing staff well-being standards and fostering a culture where staff feel valued and heard.
