About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commissioning Editor to join our Commercial Fiction team at Hachette UK. As a key member of our publishing team, you will be responsible for acquiring and publishing commercial fiction titles that meet our high standards of quality and commercial appeal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Fiction Publishing Director to develop and implement a refreshed identity and strategy for the team
  • Drive commercial acquisitions across genres, including general fiction, romance, crime and thriller, and saga
  • Work with the Publishing Director and other editors to grow the print and digital side of the list, ensuring continued profitable growth for the list overall
  • Develop and maintain excellent author and agent relationships
  • Contribute to meetings and brainstorms, including helping to come up with IP ideas
  • Liaise with authors, agents, freelancers, and internal teams to ensure high levels of care and energy across our publishing
Requirements
  • Proven track record of commercial fiction publishing
  • Strong understanding of commercial fiction and the ability to identify and acquire titles that meet our commercial appeal criteria
  • Excellent author and agent relationships
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
