About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Technician to join our team at Exponential-e Group. As a Data Centre Technician, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer support to our diverse client base, ensuring service levels are maintained and the ticketing system is up-to-date within the data centre space.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hardware Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain server, network, and storage hardware, including associated cabling and patching.
  • Cabling and Patching: Perform cabling and patching duties for various client requirements, including copper and fibre cabling.
  • Hardware Decommissioning: Decommission hardware and prepare it for shipping, coordinating with third-party couriers as needed.
  • Remote Hands Services: Provide remote hands services within data centres, including power cycling equipment, replacing failed hardware components, re-seating network cards, and testing cabling.
  • Network Monitoring: Perform regular checks for network activity, firewall status, and display errors through LED alerts or system monitoring tools.
  • Audit and Documentation: Perform audit work for client cabling and hardware, producing supporting documentation as required.
Requirements
  • Security Clearance: Must meet SC and BPSS security clearance vetting and approval requirements.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Skills: Ability to work well under pressure, maintain attention to detail, and make informed decisions. Well-organized and self-motivated, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Driving License: Full UK driving license and personal car are essential for this position.
  • Logical Approach: Logical approach to troubleshooting, problem-solving, and fault diagnosis.
  • Ownership and Flexibility: Ability to take ownership of issues and follow through to resolution, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
