Job Description

Job Title: Deputy Headteacher - Special Education Leader

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Headteacher to join our team at Chellow Heights Special School. As a senior leader, you will play a key role in supporting the Headteacher in driving forward continuous whole school improvement and developing strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Headteacher to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and strategies for improvement.
  • Lead the Senior Leadership Team in developing and implementing policies and procedures that support the school's vision and mission.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies that meet the needs of all students.
  • Monitor and analyze student outcomes and progress, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address these.
  • Develop and implement effective behavior management strategies that support the needs of students with complex needs.
  • Work closely with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to develop and implement strategies that support students with special educational needs.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with parents, carers, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the best possible education and support.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years' experience of school leadership in a special school setting.
  • Proven experience of managing staff performance and professional development.
  • High-quality experience of supporting children with a range of complex needs.
  • Knowledge of successful strategies for meeting the needs of children with PMLD, SLD, and ASC.
  • Understanding of behavior and strategies to support students with sensory processing needs.
