Job Description

We are a private medical practice, Urology Partners LLP, seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to provide administrative support to our urological surgeons.

This is a challenging and interesting position, working in a busy and supportive environment. The ideal candidate will be flexible, hardworking, and possess excellent communication and administration skills.

The Medical Secretary will be responsible for providing secretarial support to one consultant, including:

  • Creating patient bookings for outpatient appointments and procedures
  • Dealing with patient queries and liaising with the consultant as necessary
  • Liaising with GPs and hospital departments to obtain test results
  • Managing the consultant's diary and time, including clinic and theatre schedules
  • Audio and copy typing of clinic and procedure letters
  • Following up on post-outpatient or theatre actions

The role is a hybrid of working from home and office-based, with days worked in the office dependent on the consultant's schedule. The successful candidate will be required to work four days a week, with holiday cover provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to one consultant
  • Manage patient bookings and appointments

  • Follow up on post-outpatient or theatre actions

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Medical Secretary
  • Excellent communication and administration skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and transcription
  • Excellent typing skills
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize work tasks
