Job Description

The Grid System Integration (GSI) team is seeking a Power Systems Studies Engineer to join their team in North and South Europe. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading concept studies at the tender stage and developing solutions that satisfy client needs and conform to requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead concept studies at the tender stage and develop solutions that satisfy client needs and conform to requirements.
  • Manage external resources who will undertake full sets of electrical system studies and validate output.
  • Act as the main technical interface to clients in this area of the design.

Job Requirements:

  • MSc (or equivalent) in Power Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience working in a role where you are undertaking electrical study work on high voltage transmission systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical load flow and equipment sizing, reactive power management, harmonic management, availability studies, and insulation coordination.
  • Competent user of power system analysis software applications such as PowerFactory DIgSILENT.
  • Competent user of RAM studies software applications such as ReliaSoft - BlockSIM.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong understanding of the power transmission business and the way in which electrical power grids are operated.
  • Able to bridge the gap between system studies and practical design realization.
  • Ability to provide guidance to electrical-mechanical teams who will create detail design.

About the Company:

The Grid System Integration (GSI) business team is a turnkey project business that works with internal and external partners to engineer, procure, construct, and commission a wide range of projects associated with the bulk transmission of electrical power and management of electrical power grids.

These projects typically include new high voltage transmission substations, expansion and reinforcement of existing transmission substations and networks, on and offshore substations to facilitate windfarm connections and other renewable technologies, network compensation and stability projects, and energy storage projects.
