Custodian Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian I/II to join our team at Allen ISD. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our school buildings.

• Perform a variety of custodial tasks, including sweeping, buffing, and waxing floors, as well as cleaning windows, walls, and furniture.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including vacuum cleaners, mops, and brooms.
• Work cooperatively with the head custodian and custodial staff to ensure a clean and safe environment.
• Initiate independent work and cleaning activities, unsupervised.
• Move heavy objects, such as cafeteria tables and bookcases, and perform outside grounds work.
• Ensure the safety and security of the school building, including securing the building at night when necessary.

• Completion of the sixth grade and some building cleaning experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
• Excellent skills in human relations.
• Willingness and ability to adjust work schedule as needed to meet the school's needs.

Employee is exposed to potential chemical hazards and toxic substances when using cleaning liquids, solvents, and solutions, as well as potential biological hazards when cleaning restrooms. Work also exposes employee to dust, fumes, and occasionally to adverse weather conditions.
