Facilities Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Operative to join our team in Orkney. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for undertaking and assisting with planned and reactive maintenance tasks to various plant, equipment, and systems at our project facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned/reactive/additional works within educational and community buildings, including minor works, repairs, fault finding, and fault diagnosis, utilizing the most cost-effective solutions to the issues reported.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and building plans.
- Attend tasks issued for which the post holder has the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake.
- Meet customers and inspect reported defects, compile reports with photographs, and pass them back to the Customer Service Team so remedial works can be completed where out with the operative's skillset.
- Undertake all tasks as directed by supervisors or other line management and jobs issued by the Customer Support Centre and work with, and provide information relating to technical matters, as directed by the supervisors or other line management.
- Liaise with other GTFM staff and coordinate subcontractors as necessary to ensure the timely completion of works within agreed operational targets.
- Carry out and complete all works to high-quality standards and in a competent manner in accordance with Galliford Try Health and Safety Standards, Clients' Policies, and Procedures, and with the property being left in a clean and tidy condition.
- Accept progress and complete accurately all works allocated via a portable electronic device and update all tasks in a timely manner.
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of years' experience in a building services role.
- Excellent customer service.
- Time-served apprentice or equivalent training.
- Previous experience of working within a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to work requirements and willing to accept change.
- PASMA (desirable).
- IPAF (desirable).
- Complete an acceptable disclosure check to work in a school environment (essential).
- Full UK driving license.
