**Role Overview**

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Defence sector team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical design on larger projects, working collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution.

**Key Responsibilities**

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the mechanical design on larger projects, ensuring the integration of the overall design or solution.
  • Present complex technical solutions to clients, effectively communicating the benefits and value of our designs.
  • Manage project teams with up to 10 people, providing technical guidance and support to team members to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage the performance of team members and sub-contractors, identifying and resolving any issues that may arise.

**Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
  • Previous experience working in a similar role, preferably in a consultancy environment.
  • Prior experience working on Nuclear or Defence projects is highly desirable.
  • The ability to support and lead junior engineers, providing guidance and mentorship to help them develop their skills.
  • Existing BPSS clearance or the ability to pass BPSS security clearance is essential.
