As a Senior Research Engineer at Thomson Reuters Labs, you will collaborate with a global team of interdisciplinary experts. We seek engineers and specialists across various AI research domains to propel the company's digital evolution. The landscape of AI science and engineering is swiftly advancing. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead with Expertise: Provide technical direction while collaborating with fellow engineers to refine methodologies and advance the technology stack.
  • Develop and Implement: Utilizing contemporary software development practices, you will engage in the complete software development lifecycle, constructing, testing, and delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Create Scalable ML Architectures: You will design extensive data processing frameworks to assist researchers in developing and training innovative machine learning algorithms. Your role will involve crafting high-performance scalable systems within large online delivery contexts.
  • Collaborate Effectively: In a cooperative team-oriented setting, you will share insights, appreciate diverse perspectives, and partner with cross-functional and remote teams.

Qualifications:

You are a suitable candidate for the Senior Research Engineer position if your background includes:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience, preferably in machine learning and natural language processing.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives within a software engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in Python software development stacks and ecosystems, with knowledge of additional programming languages being advantageous.
  • Ability to comprehend, apply, integrate, and deploy Machine Learning capabilities and techniques into various systems.
  • Familiarity with the Python data science ecosystem, including libraries such as Numpy, Scipy, Pandas, Dask, spaCy, NLTK, and scikit-learn.
  • A commitment to writing clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Demonstrated expertise in automation, system monitoring, and cloud-native applications, with experience in AWS or Azure (or a similar cloud platform).
  • Proficient in system analysis and design, considering DevOps and automation as core principles of your work.
  • A willingness to learn and adopt new and emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with probabilistic models and a grasp of the mathematical concepts underpinning machine learning methodologies.
  • Experience in leading and/or mentoring teams.
  • Experience in guiding teams through challenges.
  • Experience in providing updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Exposure to cloud computing development (AWS/Azure).

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in integrating Machine Learning solutions into production-grade software with a solid understanding of ModelOps and MLOps principles.
  • Previous exposure to Natural Language Processing (NLP) challenges and familiarity with key tasks such as Named Entity Recognition (NER), Information Extraction, and Information Retrieval.
  • Proven success in taking and integrating Machine Learning solutions into production-grade software.
  • Hands-on experience with other programming and scripting languages (Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, etc.).
