Babcock is a leading provider of defense, security, and aerospace solutions, and we're seeking a skilled Reporting Accountant to join our team in Portsmouth.

The Role:

As a Reporting Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting our FP&A Manager in providing accurate and timely financial data to the Land Sector Training Business Unit. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a reporting service for the Business Facing finance teams within the Training BU, meeting agreed Sector and Group deadlines.
  • Deputising for the FP&A Manager when required.
  • Assisting with managing the relationship with Group and BU Finance.
  • Supporting identified continuous improvement projects on behalf of the BU finance and Sector FP&A teams.
  • Supporting the consolidation, review, and sign-off of the Training Business Unit management accounts with the Training FD.

This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week, with regular travel to Portsmouth and home working arrangements. We offer flexible working options, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing.

Essential Experience:

  • Ability to understand and manipulate data to present clear and concise financial messages for review.
  • Ability to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved or surpassed.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of industry and regulatory standards in respect to Financial Reporting.
  • Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft suite of applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proven track record using BPC Reporting system or a similar application.

Qualifications:

  • You must hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent/similar.
  • Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
