Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is proud to be the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades and support operatives. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Part Time Cleaner for HMP Leeds.

Your New Role

As a Part Time Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of staff and visitor areas within the prison. Your duties will include:

  • Cleaning office areas, gatehouse / entrance areas, corridors, and visitor areas of the prison
  • Working to Prison standards using correct equipment
  • Ensuring no security practices are breached within the Prison
  • Escorting visitors around the prison safely (when needed)

Due to the challenging environment of the workplace, the ideal candidate will need to be level-headed, security-conscious, able to follow processes and procedures, and understand why they are in place. You will also need to be honest and have the confidence to report any suspicious activity that you see in the prison.

What You'll Need to Succeed

You must be able to pass a full prison security clearance and enhanced DBS (if required). You must also hold a valid passport or Full Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address. You must have proof of National Insurance and proof of address dated in the past 3 months. All applicants must be able to provide details of at least 2 satisfactory references. Previous cleaning experience is desired but not essential.

What You'll Get in Return

You will have a guaranteed point of contact throughout the vetting and application process and weekly payment on submission of an approved timesheet. You will also have the opportunity to gain experience in a prison environment, which will enhance your chances of gaining permanent employment with the MOJ direct. You must be proactive in your applications for the MOJ.
