About the Role

This role reports directly to the Executive Director and involves providing technical support to the Directors by conducting regular audits to ensure the quality of Premier's and its business partners' activities, with a particular emphasis on compliance, documentation, accounting, and procedures.

You will be responsible for ensuring the group complies with FCA regulatory requirements and implementing our FCA compliance and risk management framework. This will involve identifying, analyzing, and explaining regulatory topics and themes, as well as advising the business on key developments and their impact on the group.

This role also serves as the final escalation point for customer complaints, requiring liaison with the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) when necessary.

The Compliance Officer plays a critical role in an FCA-authorised firm, and it is essential that the holder of this position has a good understanding of the FCA's approach to regulation and its expectations, particularly in relation to the Compliance Oversight (CF10) function.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex rules and guidance into clear and concise communications for diverse audiences.

Strong analytical and numerical skills are also required, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and work with minimal supervision, with confidence to effectively plan, set priorities, and manage workload.

The successful candidate will have a drive to improve FCA compliance across the business, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to establish credibility with colleagues and customers.

They will likely have several years of experience in an FCA-regulated insurance/financial services environment or an audit-type role, with a good understanding of FCA requirements and the Regulatory Compliance regime.

The jobholder will need:

  • 'A' level or equivalent education is essential. A relevant professional qualification is preferable (if not, the jobholder will be expected to study for an insurance qualification).
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience working within an FCA Compliance role.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK regulatory framework within the financial services, and particularly the insurance sector.
  • Knowledge of the FCA Handbook, specifically CASS, DISP, and SYSC.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to balance business needs with regulatory requirements.
  • Relatable and positive experience of working in a fast-paced transforming organisation.
  • Experience in designing and delivering FCA Compliance and risk management frameworks.
  • Experience in conducting compliance and risk gap analysis, and successfully addressing any identified issues.
  • Some project management experience will also be beneficial.
  • Experience of managing and negotiating with external clients at senior level.
  • Ability to work away from the office, including overnight stays, to complete technical audit and compliance functions from time to time.
  • Insurance experience will be beneficial but is not essential, provided the job holder has the necessary base skills to do the job effectively.
