Solicitor 1-4 PQE

The planning division is celebrated for its superior advice and support throughout the planning process, encompassing strategic and local planning initiatives, applications, appeals, enforcement actions, and High Court challenges, including judicial reviews.

Planning attorneys collaborate closely with the firm's real estate and dispute resolution departments, enabling them to provide a comprehensive suite of services for commercial developers, financial institutions, residential builders, and operators in the minerals and waste sectors, as well as private clients involved in or contesting developments, along with charitable and educational organizations.

The firm's Commercial Real Estate team is seeking to appoint a Planning Solicitor with 1 to 4 years of post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will possess a background in planning and highways law, with a preference for those who have experience with local planning authorities or local highway authorities.

The successful applicant will manage a diverse and challenging caseload while enjoying opportunities for career advancement. The team is engaged in exciting projects, providing excellent work and maintaining strong client relationships, and they seek individuals who appreciate the balance between technical proficiency and exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning applications, strategic planning, certificates of lawful use/development, s106 agreements, and permitted development rights.
  • Local plans and neighbourhood plans.
  • Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and proposed Infrastructure Levy.
  • Biodiversity considerations, nitrate and phosphate mitigation, and development constraints.
  • Highways agreements and advisory services regarding highways and rights of way.
  • Traffic management orders, compulsory purchase orders, and compensation matters.
  • Collaboration with real estate colleagues on planning due diligence.
