Position Overview


We are on the lookout for a driven Tax Manager to become a vital part of our energetic Finance department located in Cheltenham. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a proactive and passionate individual to join a burgeoning renewable energy enterprise that has recently secured backing from a prominent institutional investor as it embarks on its next growth phase.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and oversee the corporate tax strategy
  • Identify and implement strategies for tax optimization
  • Assess and mitigate tax risks while providing innovative tax planning and reviewing intricate income tax arrangements
  • Manage tax compliance, monitoring, and reporting
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of all direct and indirect tax returns
  • Prepare tax accounting calculations, journal entries, and tax notes for financial statements
  • Oversee tax payments
  • Prepare tax budgets and forecasts
  • Review and assist with employment-related tax calculations and submissions
  • Manage inquiries from both external and internal stakeholders
  • Conduct research on complex tax matters
  • Document and quantify the tax positions of the group/company as necessary
  • Collaborate with third-party professionals, including legal advisors, accountants, tax consultants, and independent financial advisors
  • Stay informed about changes in tax legislation and emerging tax laws, as well as optimal tax planning and savings strategies
  • Enhance systems, processes, and automation
  • Develop training materials
  • Establish strong relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure effective management of tax matters and compliance requirements
  • Prepare and manage transfer pricing and service level agreements
  • Provide tax support for mergers and acquisitions
  • Assist with various ad hoc projects.


Candidate Profile

  • Possession of professional tax qualifications (ATT/CTA) is essential
  • Comprehensive understanding of UK tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles
  • Experience in a corporate tax role within industry or preferably in practice
  • A technically proficient accountant capable of navigating a complex and global environment
  • Prior experience in a dynamic, fast-paced, and streamlined business
  • Extensive knowledge of tax accounting, compliance, and all forms of tax returns
  • Strong ability to meet deadlines and solve problems
  • Able to collaborate with highly skilled colleagues and commercially savvy senior leaders
  • The ideal candidate will have experience managing intricate tax projects
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influence skills
  • Ability to analyze and question information from diverse sources
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines across multiple projects.
