Role Summary

Autolus Limited is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director/Senior Director of Translational Medicine to lead the development of our innovative cell and gene therapies for autoimmune diseases. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a rapidly growing company at the forefront of groundbreaking research.

The ideal candidate will possess deep scientific expertise in autoimmune disorders, experimental medicine, and drug development. They will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including medical directors, research scientists, regulatory affairs, clinical operations, and biometrics, to shape the translational strategy for Autolus's autoimmune franchise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and scientific guidance for all translational activities within the Autoimmune therapeutic area.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Translational Medicine strategy, encompassing biomarker identification, assay development, endpoint selection, study design, safety evaluations, dose optimization, and publication planning.
  • Collaborate effectively with other functional areas to define key aspects of integrated development plans, including early clinical translational milestones such as vendor selection, assay validation, and companion diagnostic development.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with departments such as Research & Development, Manufacturing, Medical Affairs, and Commercial Operations to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Lead and mentor a team of scientists and translational staff, cultivating a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Author and contribute to Translational Medicine sections within clinical study documents (e.g., investigator brochures, protocols, reports, regulatory submissions), as well as publications, abstracts, and presentations.
  • Represent Autolus in external-facing activities, such as interactions with Contract Research Organizations (CROs), Key Opinion Leaders (KEEs), Data Monitoring Committees, and clinical trial site personnel.
  • Manage resources effectively and provide recommendations for project funding, workload allocation, and budget requirements.
