The purpose of the Mechanical Technician is to lead the mechanical technicians to troubleshoot and repair plant mechanical equipment, perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, and statutory testing.
Reporting to the Machines Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Installing, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling a wide variety of industrial mechanical items, such as pumps, agitators, mechanical seals, heat exchangers, and valves. Providing access and installing isolations to enable vessels and reactors to be inspected.
- Executing preventative maintenance inspections on mechanical equipment, in line with agreed procedures.
- Performing statutory inspections and testing to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Understanding, evaluating, and executing tests and procedures properly, and setting up documentation and control procedures.
- Safely and efficiently executing daily tasks related to calibration and instrumentation activities, including generating Instrument Deviation Reports (IDR) for out of tolerance calibrations of process instrumentation and promptly notifying the Maintenance Manager.
- Developing and improving maintenance procedures to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven work experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
- Qualified to a minimum S/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Experience of glassware would be advantageous in this role.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills are essential for success in this position.
