Job Title: Credit Risk Analyst – Gas Trading

Richard James Recruitment Specialists Ltd is seeking a skilled Credit Risk Analyst to join our client's growing team in London. As a key member of the Energy Trading firm, you will be responsible for performing daily credit risk management tasks and developing a thorough understanding of risks associated with gas trading.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial and ongoing compliance checks on all existing and prospective counterparties for trading.
  • Conduct counterparty assessments (periodic and ad hoc) to ensure accurate risk evaluation.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders on credit-related issues to ensure seamless communication.
  • Prepare credit applications for local and HQ signoffs to ensure timely decision-making.
  • Negotiate EFET agreements to mitigate potential risks.
  • Enhance internal processes and procedures in consultation with relevant departments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Recommend changes in credit limits/approval status for senior management approval to ensure optimal risk management.
  • Monitor counterparty exposure and control credit status of approved counterparties to ensure ongoing risk assessment.
  • Maintain consistent and thorough counterparty records to ensure accurate risk evaluation.
  • Manage credit collateral to minimize potential risks.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or degree level qualification in a relevant field.

Desirable Skills:

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Solid understanding of counterparty risk and risk analysis methodologies.
  • Previous experience in credit risk management in oil, LNG, and shipping industries.

Experience:

  • 5+ years in a physical trading environment, with exposure to trading of grid-based gas, and comprehensive knowledge of the gas trading industry.
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of counterparty credit risk, a working knowledge of risk analysis and mitigation methodologies, and experience working in a regulated environment.
