An exciting opportunity has emerged within West Lothian Council's Housing, Customer & Building Services for a proactive and dedicated Housing Support Specialist. This role is essential in providing exceptional service in Residential Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer Housing Guidance to assist tenants and potential tenants in exploring housing alternatives.
- Develop and monitor Personal Housing Plans to ensure effective outcomes.
- Conduct follow-up actions from the New Tenant Visit Action Plan, providing continuous tenancy management support.
- Engage in tenant wellbeing initiatives coordinated by the Housing Office.
- Facilitate efficient income management by reaching out to tenants to encourage timely rent payments and optimize benefits.
- Process Advice Shop Referrals to help tenants enhance their financial situation, including access to energy, financial, and debt counseling.
- Collaborate with Housing Officers on transitional activities and refer tenants needing basic support to appropriate resources.
- Provide guidance to both new and existing tenants on how to engage and influence service delivery.
- Attend tenant meetings and participate in community events as needed.
- Investigate and address initial complaints relevant to the role.
- Offer administrative support in the absence of clerical staff.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Chartered Institute of Housing Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience in a customer-centric environment.
Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to convey information effectively at all levels.
Capability to accurately document and report information both verbally and in writing is required.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while managing personal workload priorities is crucial.
Proficiency in various IT applications is necessary.
A valid driving license and access to a Pool Vehicle in accordance with the Green Travel policy are mandatory.
