Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) to oversee and enhance the educational experience for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role is pivotal in ensuring that all therapeutic and educational provisions are effectively coordinated.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Salary: Main Scale plus 1 SEN point plus 1 TLR
  • Contract Type: Full-time fixed contract for one year
  • Reporting to: Head of School and Deputy Head
Main Objectives:
  • Oversee all therapeutic services, including collaboration with therapists, scheduling, referrals, and evaluating effectiveness.
  • Provide training and interventions focused on communication and sensory needs.
  • Manage the annual review process for students.
  • Facilitate family support initiatives, including FEH and TAFs.
  • Contribute to the overall safeguarding strategy as a designated deputy safeguarding lead (DDSL).
  • Monitor and analyze attendance, providing necessary support.
  • Coordinate daily therapeutic services for individual students and their families.
Duties:
  • Strategically develop and implement the SEN policy and provisions.
  • Maintain a comprehensive overview of SEN and disability provisions across the institution.
  • Ensure that the SEN policy is effectively translated into practice.
  • Stay informed about national and local initiatives that impact SEN policy and practice.
  • Assess the effectiveness of funding and recommend improvements.
  • Guide on teaching strategies for students with ASD.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, serving as a primary contact.
  • Lead intervention groups, assessing their effectiveness.
  • Support students with SEN or disabilities through coordinated therapies and monitoring.
  • Engage with parents/carers and students during the EHCP review process.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/carers.
  • Facilitate transitions for students entering or exiting the school.
