Job Opportunity: Acute Medicine Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Medicine Consultant to join our team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. As a key member of our Acute Medicine Unit, you will play a vital role in providing expert clinical care to patients with acute medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Acute Medicine Unit and provide expert clinical opinion in a range of problems during the acute unselected medical take.
  • Develop and implement sub-specialty work in areas such as Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Cardiology, Neurology / Stroke, Hepatology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Geriatric Medicine & Frailty, General Internal Medicine, and Infectious Diseases.
  • Supervise, appraise, coach, and mentor doctors in training to ensure they receive the highest quality education and training.
  • Accreditation in point of care ultrasound in diagnosis in acute medicine patients is highly desirable.
Requirements:
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Acute Internal Medicine or General Internal Medicine via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (The proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), MD, PhD or equivalent, or Specialty Certificate Examination in Acute Internal Medicine.
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion in a range of problems during the acute unselected medical take.
  • Higher training medicine specialty training scheme.
