Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibiting a comprehensive understanding of product safety assurance, often grounded in fundamental safety engineering principles.
- Providing support across a diverse portfolio of products including Radar, Simulation & Training, Torpedoes, Mine Neutralisers, and Autonomous Systems.
- Crafting effective and efficient safety arguments for technically intricate products.
- Offering reliable advice and guidance to project teams on safety matters, ensuring that safety considerations are embedded in the design process throughout the entire product lifecycle.
- Ensuring adherence to relevant UK and international regulations and standards, particularly compliance with DefStan 00-056, DSA02-DMR, and other Ministry of Defence protocols.
- Utilizing the latest advancements from industry and academia to facilitate innovative safety approaches for future product designs, including active engagement in Model Based Safety Assurance.
- Contributing to the organization's culture of continuous improvement, particularly in safety process enhancement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Possess an Engineering/Systems/Safety degree or equivalent, ideally working towards IEng status.
- Demonstrated understanding of safety engineering and assurance principles.
- Familiarity with relevant safety legislation and standards.
- Qualified engineers from other disciplines who exhibit the appropriate mindset and possess an understanding of safety engineering will also be considered.
- Awareness of product development and delivery lifecycles.

About the Team:
The Product portfolio encompasses a wide array of highly sophisticated systems, from cutting-edge Radar technology to underwater warfare assets. The team is responsible for developing safety arguments from foundational principles to ensure products are ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) and remain compliant with applicable safety policies and standards throughout their lifecycle. You will support the assurance cases for a product family within one of our sectors, such as Radar, Underwater Warfare, or Simulation and Training. Additionally, you may oversee the assurance of test and support equipment utilized during development, servicing, and maintenance.
