This pivotal role is essential for ensuring the operational efficiency of Cardiff Bus by meticulously maintaining all vehicles in optimal condition. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the engineering team to uphold both company and DVSA standards.
Position OverviewWe are in search of a qualified PCV/HGV technician with substantial experience in servicing heavy commercial vehicles to become part of our Cardiff-based team. Even if your background is primarily with trucks or plant machinery, our dedicated team of skilled engineers and managers is ready to support your professional development.
The successful applicant should possess the ability to diagnose and rectify vehicle faults to a high standard, show commitment to enhancing their technical skills, and hold a recognized vehicle maintenance qualification. A valid UK driver's license is required, and we will assist in obtaining a PCV license.
Key ResponsibilitiesMain Duties
- Carry out tasks diligently and safely.
- Perform additional tasks outside of your primary trade as required.
- Notify management of potential vehicle issues.
- Conduct repairs both on-site and off-site.
- Accurately identify and resolve defects and their underlying causes.
- Manage vehicle defect clearances when necessary.
- Oversee vehicle recovery and changeovers as needed.

QualificationsCompensation Structure
Hourly Rates:
- Standard Monday to Friday: £21.35
- Standard Weekend: £26.47
- Overtime Monday to Friday: £26.47
- Overtime Weekend: £32.82
Work Schedule
Members of the engineering team operate on a rotating schedule that covers all operational hours, including weekends. Shifts may start as early as 5am and conclude as late as 1am, following a pattern of 7 on - 5 off - 5 on - 4 off.
