Surgical Care Nurse

Ipswich, Suffolk, United Kingdom East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic nursing professionals who are committed to providing exceptional care to patients within our surgical unit.

The role involves working in both the established Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) and the newly developed surgical care unit, which is equipped with six beds designated for pre-operative and post-operative patients.

This is a remarkable opportunity to become part of a supportive team that is focused on delivering patient-centered, clinically effective, and responsive services.

Do you have strong interpersonal abilities and the capacity to collaborate effectively across various professional disciplines? Are you eager to expand your knowledge and skills? If so, your expertise is highly valued, and we would be pleased to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will provide outstanding and personalized care to our patients, with full support to help you achieve this through our extensive educational framework. You will be responsible for the care of patients before and after their surgical procedures, ensuring high-quality, patient-focused care.

Depending on your experience level, you will enhance your skills and confidence through a structured program of supervised practice.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team comprising nurses, physicians, operating department practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.

There will be opportunities for you to engage in internal rotations to gain experience in other areas of the department, including operating theatres and recovery units.

Various professional development opportunities are available, such as Degree top-up programs, Anaesthetic courses, and Advanced Life Support (ALS) training.

The unit operates Monday through Friday, with potential expansion to Saturday services in the future.

If you find this opportunity appealing and wish to contribute to our surgical services, we encourage you to consider this role.

About Our Organization

We are the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, providing comprehensive hospital and community health services to nearly one million individuals across the region. Our dedicated workforce delivers care from acute hospitals, community hospitals, clinics, and patients' homes.

We take pride in supporting our employees by offering a wide array of training and development opportunities, along with flexible working arrangements.

In addition to assisting you in achieving your career aspirations, we provide a generous pension scheme, additional payments for unsocial hours (where applicable), 27 days of annual leave upon commencement (pro rata), and access to various NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing program offers a range of services.

Our guiding principle is that Time Matters to everyone. Throughout the Trust, we focus on enhancing our processes and eliminating those that cause delays for our staff and patients.

We are committed to improving our services through a partnership with a leading electronic patient record (EPR) provider, which will significantly enhance the experience for both staff and patients.
