With a workforce of 6,000 across the UK and Ireland, we design, manufacture, and test trains at the largest end-to-end train manufacturing facility in Derby, while also operating major sites in Widnes, Crewe, Ilford, and Plymouth, alongside 30 train service depots throughout the UK&I.

Your future role

We are seeking a Finance Project Manager for the D&IS (Digital Information Services) team based in London, UK.

This role is a vital component of the Finance team, which is seamlessly integrated into project teams to assist all work package owners for designated projects. Occasional visits to project sites may be required.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring the accuracy of financial data reported in Project Reviews, managing the economic and financial aspects of projects in accordance with company protocols, and identifying risks and opportunities to optimize financial targets while supporting the Project Manager in financial oversight. You will oversee all financial dimensions of a project, including accounting, reporting, cost control, and budgeting, while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and Alstom's RAM.

You will be tasked with ensuring that the financial status of the project, as presented in Project Reviews, is accurate and transparent in alignment with Alstom's standards.

Key Responsibilities:


• Act as the economic and financial advisor to the Project Manager.


• Collaborate with the Project Manager to prepare periodic Project Reviews, including relevant financial analyses.


• Control and enhance project outcomes through close collaboration with the Project Manager and Work Package Owners/Project Sub-system Managers.


• Challenge estimates to maximize project margins and ensure effective risk mitigation.


• Ensure timely customer invoicing and actively participate in securing payments from customers.


• Manage cash flow and implement cash improvement strategies for the project, promoting a cash-conscious culture.


• Oversee project bonds and hedging strategies to mitigate financial exposure.


• Provide comprehensive project financial reporting (orders, forecasts, weekly cash) to Unit accounting for month-end, forecasts, and budget processes, as well as to Sector as needed.


• Review and analyze all Balance Sheet items related to the project.


• Manage claims administration, including documentation and reporting.


• Participate in project meetings, risk analysis sessions, and all decision-making processes related to financial or contractual aspects of the project.


• Offer guidance and financial leadership to Project Managers for all Project Review submissions.


• Adhere to and promote all relevant Environment, Health & Safety measures and activities.

Qualifications:

• Willingness to travel to Alstom project sites as needed (approximately 1-2 times monthly).

Desirable


• Experience in accounting, preferably within a large multinational organization.


• Ability to motivate others.


• ACCA / CIMA/ACA Qualified.


• Experience in contract or project accounting.


• Familiarity with SAP is advantageous.


• Strong presentation skills.
