About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant at Polaris Children's Services – Barraclough School. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of our pupils.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to pupils, promoting their academic and social growth.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, collaborating with colleagues to address any concerns.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including extracurricular events and school trips.
  • Contribute to lesson planning and classroom preparation, setting work and marking as needed.
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils, fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity.
Requirements
  • A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Some experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities, such as food hygiene, forest school, or lunchtime supervision.
  • Experience with behavior management and techniques.
  • Commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
