Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Specialist to join our team at Teaching Vacancies. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional culinary services to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Culinary Services: Prepare and cook meals in accordance with our menu plans, ensuring high-quality food service and compliance with food safety and health and safety legislation.
  • Team Management: Supervise and direct the Kitchen Assistant to ensure smooth running of the kitchen, efficient completion of tasks, and adherence to correct working practices and methods.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct daily clerical duties, including receipt of goods, stock taking, and rotation, ensuring food deliveries are correct and food is stored at the correct temperature.
  • Menu Planning: Collaborate with the Trust Catering Manager to prepare and cook meals in accordance with the three-weekly menu plans.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Ensure the kitchen is clean and well-maintained, including washing up, drying, and putting away all pots, pans, and utensils used in food preparation.
  • Health and Safety: Report mechanical defects, ensure the kitchen is secure at the end of each day, and demonstrate awareness of equal opportunities and other people's behavioral, physical, social, and welfare needs.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other relevant duties as may be reasonably requested by the Senior Leadership Team, commensurate with the pay and grade of the post.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Relevant culinary qualifications and experience.
  • Skills: Excellent culinary skills, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of food safety and health and safety legislation.
