We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Laboratory Technician to join our team at Leicestershire County Council. As a key member of our Science Department, you will provide essential support to teaching staff in delivering practical lessons and maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teaching staff in the delivery of practical science lessons, ensuring a safe and engaging learning experience for students.
- Contribute to the maintenance of laboratory equipment, supplies, and facilities, ensuring they are in good working order and meet health and safety standards.
- Support the development and implementation of laboratory procedures and protocols, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver science-related events and activities, promoting STEM education and community engagement.
- Provide administrative support to the Science Department, including data entry, record-keeping, and other tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Relevant laboratory experience, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and external partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including some evenings and weekends, as required.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with best practices in laboratory safety and science education.
Working Hours:
27.5 hours per week, term time only, with some flexibility to work varied hours as required.
Salary:
£12.38 per hour.
