Join Our Team as a Senior Waste Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Waste Consultant to join our team at AtkinsRéalis Nuclear. As a key member of our Reactor Operations and Decommissioning team, you will play a critical role in the safe dismantling and disposal of ageing nuclear reactors and management of radioactive waste.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective radioactive waste management strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to identify opportunities for business change in decommissioning and waste management, with a focus on Net Zero.
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to junior members of staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Contribute to the development of project/programme waste strategies, including environmental permitting and assessment requirements.
  • Engage with other team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to deliver complex projects and meet client needs.
Requirements:
  • Relevant degree-qualified in science (chemistry/physics/environmental sciences) or engineering (chemical/mechanical/process).
  • Significant experience working in a related field, with a strong understanding of nuclear reactor decommissioning and radioactive waste management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear and concise technical reports.
  • Flexible approach to work, with a willingness to travel to client sites as required.
  • Knowledge of nuclear reactor decommissioning and radioactive waste management, with a focus on Net Zero.
