Job Summary
The PMA Post-Award Engineering team is responsible for delivering high-quality umbilical products to our customers. As an Umbilical Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in analyzing the life cycle performance of umbilical products and ensuring they meet relevant internal, international, and client-driven standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess umbilical design basis against internal standards and create specifications.
- Analyze the life cycle performance of umbilical products and create calculation packages specific to the umbilical type/design.
- Provide technical support to design reviews, internal and external clarification meetings, and risk reviews for assigned projects.
- Ensure work is completed according to agreed guidelines, design rules, and procedures in a timely and efficient manner.
- Contribute to departmental goals and objectives identified by Lead Engineers and Departmental Managers.
- Identify technical risks and escalate them through more senior engineers where applicable.
- Highlight required updates of design rules to discipline Technical Authorities and ensure deviations from standard design rules and procedures are carried out in accordance with company change control procedures.
- Ensure department and company QHS&E objectives and targets are met.
- Support improvement activities and contribute to the department's Lean initiatives.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline – preferably Mechanical Engineering or Subsea Engineering.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in umbilical engineering and the wider offshore/subsea industry.
- Experience with engineering tools such as MathCAD (or equivalent) and Orcaflex.
- Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools such as Ansys and Abaqus.
- Experience in developing Lean best practices.
- Experience delivering against challenging schedules in a project management environment.
