About the Role
The University of Bristol is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to work on a domestic cat population related project in collaboration with Cats Protection. The aim of the project is to increase our current understanding of the domestic cat population in UK shelters and develop a methodological strategy for a population census.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and execute a scoping review of our current understanding of shelter demographics and processes in the UK, along with a systematic review of census techniques.
- Develop a plan for a comprehensive UK cat census.
- Collect and manage qualitative and quantitative data, and perform data analysis.
- Prepare peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and reports.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD qualification in animal behaviour, animal welfare, veterinary medicine, biological science, epidemiology, statistics, or a related subject.
- Have previously undertaken animal behaviour, welfare, demographic, and/or epidemiological studies.
- Have the ability to critically appraise scientific literature, and a sound knowledge of research methods, data management, and statistical analysis in the context of population research.
- Have experience of both quantitative and qualitative research methods, and a proven capability in data management and statistical analysis.
- Have an understanding of animal demography and potential influencers across different contexts.
