About the Role

As a Prison Officer with Serco Plc, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of prisoners, staff, and visitors in our prisons. You will be responsible for supervising prisoners, overseeing work and education programs, and managing operational matters such as prisoner headcounts and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise prisoners in all aspects of prison wing activity
  • Oversee work and education programs, encouraging prisoners to participate
  • Manage operational matters such as prisoner headcounts, prison cell searching, security, and administrative processes
  • Manage prisoners who are at risk of self-harm

Requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Basic maths and English skills
What to Expect

As a Prison Officer with Serco Plc, you can expect to work in a challenging and rewarding environment. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and nights. You will also be required to complete a 10-week Initial Training Course (ITC) at the prison, which includes classroom-based training and shadowing.
