Your Path to Becoming a SEND Teaching Assistant

Upon a successful interview and after completing necessary suitability, safeguarding, and identity checks, we will assist you in securing a paid position in a school to enhance your skills.

We are committed to helping you shape your identity as an educator and guide you in selecting your area of specialization, whether it be Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1), Key Stage 2 (KS2), secondary education, or SEND provisions.

Comprehensive Training Program

Before commencing your placement, you will be required to undergo an extensive training program facilitated by Vision for Education and experienced school leaders, equipping you with the essential skills needed to excel as a SEND Teaching Assistant.

The Role of a SEND Teaching Assistant

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective operation of the school environment. The most successful Teaching Assistants possess:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • A genuine interest in supporting the daily needs of all students
  • The ability to foster relationships with staff, students, and their families

The responsibilities of a SEND Teaching Assistant may vary by school. You could be:

  • Assisting the teacher during whole-class instruction
  • Conducting small group interventions to support students
  • Providing one-on-one support to ensure the needs of all students are met, enabling them to thrive
