About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to join our team at Lloyd's Register. As a Technical Lead, you will provide technical leadership within the areas of expertise for the Process, Piping, and Mechanical engineering (PPM) discipline of the LR Offshore Technical Support Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members on complex design reviews and assessments.
  • Conduct detailed design reviews of associated design documents of Mechanical Engineering deliverables of LR clients in the marine & offshore industry.
  • Develop and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness through Continuing Professional Development.
  • Assess, recommend, and endorse the scope, cost, time, resources, and value of work to be undertaken for internal/external clients.
  • Discuss/present deliverables with internal/external clients up to senior level and suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
  • Undertake administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
  • Implement improvements in service delivery and help build the business based on internal/external client feedback.
  • Technically develop other employees, as appropriate, and disseminate information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
  • Ensure that activities are conducted in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Provide specialist support/advice and resolve technical queries within a discipline to internal/external clients.
  • Manage work within a discipline and ensure it is in accordance with management system requirements, cost structures, and budgetary/contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree from a recognised university or equivalent in one of the Mechanical engineering areas.
  • Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer, or equivalent, or working towards achieving the status.
  • Sufficient relevant previous working experience as a technical leader in areas of Offshore Mechanical engineering design to demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the relevant specialist requirements, knowledge, and application.
  • Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the Project Management process, gained through experience and training.
  • Strong technical background in Rotating Equipment/Machinery engineering design will be a plus.
