Position Overview

The Child and Adolescent Emotional Support Specialist within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) plays a vital role in delivering assistance and therapeutic interventions to young individuals facing emotional and behavioral difficulties.

This position also includes working with parents to develop co-regulation skills, thereby improving family interactions. The expertise of the practitioner will be instrumental in fostering emotional resilience and enhancing the overall well-being of both children and their families.

The Service operates from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday. Availability for two late shifts weekly, including some Saturdays, is required.

Key Responsibilities

HCRG Care Group is engaged to offer a variety of services for children, young people, and families across Essex, which are provided at no cost at the point of delivery, including our CAMHS service.

Individual and Group Support: Deliver personalized and group interventions to assist children and adolescents in developing skills for emotional regulation and resilience. Parental Skill Development: Facilitate sessions aimed at equipping parents with co-regulation techniques to better support their children's emotional health. Collaborative Care: Partner with the broader Getting Help team to ensure cohesive care and intervention plans. Supportive Environment: Engage with the surrounding system of the child or young person to cultivate a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere within CAMHS. Skills Enhancement: Aid clients in acquiring self-regulation and conflict resolution abilities, empowering them to effectively manage their emotions. Progress Evaluation: Continuously assess and monitor client progress, modifying treatment strategies as needed. Record Keeping: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, assessments, and interventions in accordance with CAMHS protocols and legal standards. Family Involvement: Promote open dialogue and collaboration with parents and guardians to maintain a holistic, family-centered approach to care.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience: Prior experience working with children and adolescents facing emotional and behavioral challenges, preferably in a therapeutic or behavioral management context. Qualifications: A minimum of a level 4 qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., psychology, counseling, social work). Co-Regulation Knowledge: Familiarity with co-regulation strategies and techniques for working with parents to enhance family dynamics. Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively engage with children, adolescents, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Empathy and Commitment: A compassionate, patient demeanor with a genuine passion for positively impacting the lives of children, adolescents, and their families. Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care. Flexibility: Willingness to adapt working hours to meet the needs of young clients and their families, including evening and weekend commitments. Driving License: A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel to various locations.
