About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Product Design team at Safran Electrical & Power. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering robust designs and work packages using Catia and NX CAD software to high tolerances for use in the aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and support the definition of robust mechanical design solutions for R&D/R&T projects, ensuring designs are technically robust, fit for purpose, and meet both business and customer needs.
  • Deliver engineering solutions that meet 'Design to Cost' and 'Design to Manufacture/Assembly' requirements.
  • Produce and maintain CAD models, drawings, and parts lists that are compliant with all company standards, associated within the work packages assigned to you.
  • Produce and report on Design Assurance documentation, including design reports, test procedures, and Hand/Stress calculations.

Requirements

  • A Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification/work experience.
  • Experience delivering work packages and the ability to guide other Engineers in a team.
  • Understanding and experience of using Windchill or similar PLM tools.
  • Mechanical design experience with some exposure to rotating equipment, such as shafts.
  • An understanding of engineering materials and production methods, including lay-ups and filament winding.
  • Some exposure to composite applications, particularly shafts, tubes, or rotating parts.
  • Substantial experience of using 2D & 3D CAD software, ideally Catia and NX.
  • Experience of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, through written and verbal means, to all levels within the business and interact easily with other Engineering teams.
