Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join our culinary team at Southwell Racecourse. As a casual member of our team, you will have the flexibility to pick and choose your hours, working around race days and additional set up and breakdown shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Ensure guests receive the highest standard of customer service at all times, promoting a happy and welcoming atmosphere within the venue.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep the area of work and public areas clean and tidy before, during, and after opening hours, undertaking cleaning duties as required, and operating the plate wash and pot wash machines.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all kitchen equipment is cleaned and well maintained, using chemicals in a safe manner and adhering to Health and Safety regulations.
  • Stock Management: Assist in stock rotation and the safe storage of food, collecting and distributing stores and/or prepared food as directed.
  • Customer Service: Act as an information point for customers, handling cash, stock, and equipment in a secure manner.
  • Waste Management: Record wastage in line with venue procedures and dispose of rubbish in line with any onsite recycling initiatives.
  • Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, working with a smile on your face whatever the weather.
  • Teamwork: Work with honesty and integrity, demonstrating a passion for quality service and standards, and adhering to Company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication and customer care skills, with the ability to handle difficult or conflict situations.
  • Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills, friendly, confident, and outgoing, with the ability to work with a team within a hospitality environment.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work around race days and additional set up and breakdown shifts.
  • Qualifications: Strong numerical and literacy skills, with the ability to handle cash, stock, and equipment in a secure manner.
