Job Title: School Caretaker / Site Maintenance Operative

We are seeking a highly motivated and professional School Caretaker / Site Maintenance Operative to join our Site Maintenance Team at Swalcliffe Park School.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the appearance and security of the school site, ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for students and staff. This includes general security, grounds maintenance, and assisting with planned preventative and reactive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Be a keyholder and attend to the opening and closing of the school daily, ensuring all windows are closed securely and doors are shut and locked securely in all school buildings and outbuildings.
  • Assist with the delivery of planned preventative and reactive maintenance as directed by the Site Manager.
  • Undertake grounds maintenance appropriate to the seasons/time of year.
  • Receive and check goods and supplies and take them to the appropriate place for storage.
  • Support the Housekeeping Team and ensure that all refuse is disposed of promptly and stored away from the main building.
  • Ensure that a clear passage is maintained on fire escape routes.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a similar role (desirable).
  • Honest, reliable, and flexible in approach to duties and hours of work.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Health & Safety including COSHH.
  • Ability to undertake appropriately risk-assessed manual tasks with the support of appropriate equipment.
  • Access to a car for work purposes.
