Job Responsibilities
We are seeking a Capital Projects Engineer with substantial expertise in manufacturing, filling, packaging, and site service equipment, particularly within sectors such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, health and personal care, food, confectionery, and beverages, or other highly regulated production environments.
The Capital Projects Engineer will oversee the planning and execution of both capital and operational projects, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to specifications, and budget compliance to achieve anticipated business benefits. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Projects will encompass factory equipment, including manufacturing processes, filling, packaging, and site services/infrastructure (such as HVAC, WFI, and purified water systems). The products and processes involved include Solid Dose (wet granulation, dry blending, compression, and encapsulation), Liquids, Creams, Ointments, and Terminally Sterilized injectables.
This role also entails ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle, with a focus on meeting current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards.
Key Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Integrating requirements from Safety, Quality, Operations, Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T), Engineering, and Supply functions to create a comprehensive user requirement specification for equipment.
- Planning and executing project implementations to meet business objectives, maintaining accurate and current project plans, and effectively managing risks with registered mitigation actions.
- Taking full ownership of all project aspects throughout the lifecycle, including contractual and commercial matters, health and safety, quality assurance/control, finance and cash flow, procurement, construction, commissioning, and client relations.
- Selecting equipment suppliers through thorough analysis and quantitative assessment to identify the best options for the business and supporting equipment purchase negotiations.
- Defining precise project budgets to ensure implementation within financial constraints while delivering expected benefits.
- Leading the installation, qualification (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ), and commissioning of equipment, including overseeing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) at Dechra facilities.
- Managing both internal and external resources to ensure project activities are completed according to specifications, timelines, and budget.
- Establishing effective communication channels to ensure smooth project handovers to stakeholders (Operations, Quality, Engineering, etc.).
- Assisting Operations teams with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and issue resolution.
- Supporting Operations teams in optimizing equipment performance.
- Conducting post-capital expenditure evaluations to ensure lessons learned are documented and shared appropriately.
