Position Overview:
Our client, a prominent Shipping Line, is in search of a seasoned Procurement Terminal Cost Controller. This role offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for two days of remote work each week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product & Quality Management:
    Monitor daily operations and communicate progress on key performance indicators (KPIs) to support stakeholders throughout the procurement process, including billing and planning optimization.
  • Assist in the implementation of new initiatives such as transshipment ports, services, routes, or third-party agents.
  • Foster a mindset focused on cost recovery, particularly concerning auxiliary charges like congestion and overtime.
  • Support the Procurement Coordinator with vendor database updates as needed.
  • Provide essential data for the management of Terminal and Port Services tenders.

Contract & Tariff Management:

  • Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of all vendor tariff costs for Terminal and Port Services within operational systems, including third-party agents.
  • Assist in studies aimed at enhancing strategies, contracts, or tariffs as requested by management.
  • Monitor and take action on contractual rebates and incentives.
  • Maintain and distribute KPIs for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in budget management and control.
  • Facilitate effective administrative billing and resolve invoice queries.

Maintenance of Internal Systems:

  • Oversee the accuracy and validity of data to enable front-line teams to organize pricing effectively, including periodic yield reviews.
  • Report on various cost-saving initiatives as directed by management.
  • Follow up on any queries related to cost tariffs with the local operations team, making necessary adjustments to prevent recurrence.

Compliance:

  • Ensure that all processes related to vendor procurement for Terminal Operations comply with company regulations, including the UK Bribery Act.
  • Assist management with JSOX, ISO14001, and AEO procedures.
  • Prepare for and assist with audits related to Terminal and Port Services.
  • Archive vendor-related agreements in accordance with procurement policies and audit requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of experience in procurement and operations within the Maritime Shipping or Logistics sector, with a preference for experience across multiple European regions. A strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel are essential for success in this role.
